3 Underutilized Tactics to Get In Front of Your Target Customers

small business owner in Las Vegas thinking of marketing strategies to attract clients

In the busy city of Las Vegas, finding ways to stand out among compeition and connect with your target audience can feel almost impossible. Throughout my years helping small businesses in Las Vegas, I've been able to find the hidden gems that seem to truly set some businesses apart from the rest and thus yield the greatest results.

In this post, we'll explore five unconventional strategies that can help you get in front of your target customers and grow your small business in Las Vegas.

Tip #1 - Get a Stand at a Pop-Up Market

While online marketing has its place, there will always be something to be said for the personal touch of face-to-face interaction. Pop-up markets, like the ones listed below, offer entrepreneurs a unique opportunity to connect with potential customers in person. By setting up a stand and showcasing your products or services, you can engage in genuine conversations with attendees and build relationships that can lead to future sales.

One great unique feature about markets that other marketing tactics don't give you, is that you'll get to see a lot of new faces, but you'll also get a lot of returning customers - because Las Vegas has a lot of Farmer's Market junkies who frequent markets week after week. And if you're wondering how you can showcase a service, think about unique ways to feature your service in unconventional ways. For example, if you're a tattoo artist, you could put on temporary tattoos. Or if you're a hair stylist, you could do braids or another hairdo for the market.

Your goal during these markets isn't necessarily to sell product - although that is a plus. The main goal of these is to get your name out there and to hopefully get a future customer or one that will spread your name to someone else. Make it your mission to have genuine conversation with the people you talk to during the market.

Tip #2 - Utilize Social Media in Your Small Biz

You've heard it before, but it stands true – social media is a powerful tool for growing your small business - even today. With millions of users scrolling through their feeds every day, platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok offer unparalleled access to potential customers.

Best of all, social media marketing doesn't have to break the bank. You can create your own content for free, or even hire a social media manager for a resonable price. By harnessing the power of trending content, engaging with micro-influencers, and sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses of your business, you can organically reach your target audience without spending a fortune.

I think everyone realizes the potential reach social media has, but they don't realize how easy it is to reach those people. It's as easy as your video reaching one person, and then the algorithm recommending it to that person's follower list, and down the chain until your video has thousands of views overnight.

My recommendation for social media is to follow a lot of creators in your similar industry or market. That way, you can see which of their posts do well, and recreate those with your own spin on your own page. You also don't have to be huge on every platform. Find the platform that your people are on - and focus on that.

Tip #3 - Community Partnerships

In a city as diverse as Las Vegas, community is everything. By partnering with other local businesses, you can tap into new audiences and expand your reach in ways you never thought possible. Now you're combining a single audience with someone else's completely separate audience of people.

A lot of business owners consider their competition in their industry anyone that owns a business and anyone who their audience would spend their money on instead of them. That just isn't realistic. Your competition is actually much more narrow than that. So just another business in Las Vegas is not your competition at all - and can be a huge opportunity.

Some ways you can work with a local business would be to:

  • Collaborate on a joint promotion / discount

  • Host a social media giveaway / contest together

  • Cross-promoting each other on social media

  • Swap services for free

Growing a small business in Las Vegas requires thinking outside the box

Don't be afraid to embrace unconventional marketing tactics and get creative in your promotional efforts. By participating in pop-up markets, leveraging the power of social media, or forming community partnerships, you can get in front of your target customers and take your business to new heights - the possibilities are endless!
